Diamond Jewelry

Diamond is the queen of precious stones. It is known for its flawless nature and is rare. Diamond has a broad color range and a very low reaction towards chemicals. It is a good conductor of heat and insulator of electricity.

The sparkling diamond is just another form of dark carbon. Diamonds are available in more shapes than any other gem. "Carat" is the unit to measure the weight and size of diamonds. The deciding factors while purchasing diamond jewelry are its carat, cut, clarity and color. Diamonds come in seven different types of settings, each displaying it in a unique style. Some popular diamond settings are bars, bezels, chevrons, chanels, paves and prongs.

Diamond jewelry is one of the most expensive types of jewelry. Diamond rings, particularly diamond engagement rings, are an eternal favorite. A diamond solitaire necklace is an enviable and popular jewelry gift. Diamonds set in gold are popular the world over. Diamonds in platinum settings make a grand combination, although they are pretty expensive. The pearl-diamond duo is a picture of elegance. Diamonds in white gold settings are becoming a favorite with the younger generation. Bracelets with diamonds embedded in them are memorable gift items. Diamonds find some unusual settings too – they can be found in tiepins, watches and even ladies' sandals sport diamonds.

Although diamonds are the Earth's hardest materials, a single hard hit can cause one to chip. So diamonds must not be worn during heavy activity. Diamond jewelry can be best maintained by cleaning it with a gentle brush using water and a little bit of ammonia. Diamonds can be well protected from scratches if they are stored in their original velvet boxes when not being worn.

Although they were once a luxury, in recent times, diamonds have become a common possession. The glitter, hassle-free maintenance and durability of diamond jewelry justify the price. Here, they are reserved for the most special occasions in life. A diamond, as they say, is forever.

Children's Vision and School Related Vision Problems

An area often overlooked in a child's overall health and ability to perform well academically is vision. If there are no severe signs of vision problems that are readily detected by your physician, then it's my opinion that a child should have their first visual examination at three years of age. I feel it is imperative that children should not enter kindergarten without having a complete visual examination.

As rare as it is, eye diseases do occur in children and could go undetected and untreated without prior diagnosis. More importantly, is the parents' assumption that their child has no visually related problems because the child has no complaints or their child passed a brief visual screening performed by the school or a non-eyecare professional. These screenings do not check for eye health nor do they have the sophisticated equipment needed to accurately diagnose your child's visual condition.

One of my passions is working with children so what I'm about to tell you comes from my heart. Your child may not possess the visual skills necessary to learn effectively. When parents make the determination that their child is seeing properly rather than having a qualified eyecare professional make that determination through proper testing, they may be cheating their child's academic performance.

In the early school years, children learn a lot visibly by what they see, especially, in school. If they are struggling to read their books or to see the chalkboard at their seat, this could put undue stress on their visual system, so much so that they lose interest in the subject material, their grades begin to suffer, and they begin to have a lack of self esteem.

In many cases, these children become behavioral problems in school, sometimes being diagnosed as attention-deficit or hyperactive, when in fact the major of their problems may be visual. I am not dismissing the problems of attention deficit or hyperactivity because I, myself, am a survivor of attention-deficiency. I am just letting you know that in my years of working with children, I have often found that vision problems seem to be a component that are often linked to attention deficit and hyperactivity.

When a child can not see well, they are inwardly feel that other children are better than they are. In addition, it has been my experience in dealing with children that just because a child has 20/20 sight, he or she may still have significant visual deficits. They may include:

* Having problems moving their eyes from reading to a distance position.

* Losing their place while reading, particularly, in going from one line to another.

* Rereading the same line over and over.

* Frequent reversals in numbers or letters especially if this occurs beyond the second grade.

* Having to use a ruler or finger to keep their place while reading.

* Having to assume awkward posts to be able to read, ie tilting their head to one side and covering one eye with their hand, reading while their head is laying on the table, reading material closer than 10 inches, or holding material too far away .

* Taking 2 hours to complete 20 minutes of homework.

Vision problems detected early can mean the difference between academic success or the frustration which leads to failure.

Parents, for your children's sake, please have their vision tested by an eyecare professional.

Solar Energy In The Home

I was going to call this article "solar heating in the home" but then I realized that I would be perpetuating the myth that heating is a primary use for solar energy and so I changed my mind. The reason solar energy is not hugely useful for heating the home is common sense really. In the winter, when you need your heating on, the sun is lower in the sky and there are fewer daylight hours. In the other seasons when solar energy would be more effective you do not need it. At best, solar heating can support your central heating a little in colder climates whilst in places such as Australia and California it can be worthwhile, but then it's not needed so often.

Solar Technologies

A number of technologies have been developed to make use of solar radiation. Some of these make direct use of solar energy for lighting and heating etc., while others produce electricity. They are:

1. Solar thermal energy collection systems which generate electricity through mirrors and a system of tubes filled with fluid.

2. Solar thermal collectors which are used to produce heat.

3. Photovoltaic panels which generate electricity direct from sunlight. However, they generate DC current, which if you want to use it in the home, has to be converted to AC This would require a very big surface area to meet the needs of just one home which is why solar panels are rarely used for domestic heating. However, in a sunny climate, you can produce enough power to run a 100W light bulb from one square meter of solar panel.

4. Solar hot water panels which are often used in the home to heat water.

Solar Panel Efficiency

Although solar panels are used all year round they are only efficient when they receive direct sunshine. They produce very little power in cloudy conditions or in the shade. However, it is the light that produces electricity. Heat actually interferees with electricity production so solar panels used in very hot climates are less efficient than those used in sunny but cold climates. When the panel's temperature is above 50 degree centigrade its efficiency will decrease. Also, at different times of the day, as the sun angle to the panel varies, the amount of energy produced is different. Usually it is better if the panel is inclined but on cloudy days horizontal mounted panels are more efficient. Most energy is generated when the panel is pointed directly towards the sun.

The use of solar power has fallen in and out of favor since the 1970's depending on the potential savings when compared with other energy costs. The equipment needed nowdays is 90% cheaper than it was thirty years ago and homes with solar roof tiles can often generate more electricity than is needed at certain times of day. Depending where you are in the world this execess energy can sometimes be sold to local electricity companies.

In Japan and the USA, billions has been spent on developing Photovoltaic systems and Germany has now joined in the research. As is often the case with renewable energy systems, the initial costs of setting up solar energy for the home is quite expensive. However, savings on electricity bills in the long term should make up for this and as time passes, the costs are falling making it more spacious.

Why Should You Install LED Boat Lights?

Your current lighting setup works just fine right? You can see your decks well in the night, you get by just fine with that single small reading light in the cabin, and heck, you just make sure you’re extra careful when running your systems so you don’t end up draining the battery banks. So why bother going with LED lights instead of those nice cheap incandescent bulbs you’ve been using all these years?

If this is your way of thinking when it comes to the lighting onboard your boat, the chances are very good you are wasting a lot of money and dealing with a lot more hassle than you probably realize.

Most boaters are well familiar with the need to manage onboard electrical power. Since all power for electrical devices must be produced, stored and supplied independently of onshore sources, boaters must rely on generators, solar panels, wind turbines and battery banks to produce and store electrical energy. Because of this, the amount of power that can be generated and stored is severely limited and close attention must be given to maintaining adequate power levels for the operation of vital equipment as well as luxuries in order to avoid increased costs through excessive fuel consumption and potentially dangerous situations where battery reserves are depleted to the point of being unable to start engines or operate safety lighting.

Because it can become expensive to run generators frequently, and alternative power sources such as wind and solar are limited in their ability to replenish supplies, most boaters resort to rationing power use. While larger battery banks and generators can provide increased generating and storage capabilities, the cost of fuel still remains a stumbling block and only increases with such additions. Many boaters will resort to battery powered lamps, running only a couple small cabin lights sporadically in order to make it possible to at least get to the head without banging a shin, and running the most minimal anchor and mast lighting possible while still meeting compliance with regulations. While all of these things and more can indeed reduce power consumption, they take away from the overall ability to enjoy your time on the water, and this is a serious problem when we consider that for most boaters, the whole point is to enjoy the luxury and relaxation that comes with spending time onboard.

Although they are not the most power hungry devices, lights represent a major part of the electrical system and due to their critical nature, are impossible to do away with entirely. It is ironic indeed that for something which is so important to the general safety and functioning of onboard activities, they are often treated as non-essential when it comes to power management. The good news though, is that this no longer has to be the case.

The most important benefit boaters can realize from switching to LED lighting onboard their boat is greatly reduced energy consumption. Whereas a typical 25 watt halogen bulb may draw over 2 amps and produce only 425 lumens, an LED fixture producing 500 lumens can use only 10 watts and pull less than 1 amp. That is more light output using less than half as much power. This kind of efficiency is impossible with normal incandescent lamps and allows you to produce more light, using fewer fixtures. For a boater who is loathe to leave cabin lights on for any length of time, this means you can install half as many lamps and produce the same illumination, while cutting the power draw by up to three quarters. This mean no more reading by the weak yellowish light of a battery lamp, or making so with dim cabins and hard to work in galleys or cockpits.

While LEDs do cost more initially than traditional lamps, they provide other cost saving benefits besides efficiency, which further help to offset their higher price and provide net savings over the long term. Lamp life is one of these peripheral benefits, and it can be extended over ten times as long using LEDs. A typical incandescent bulb will last approximately 500 to 1500 hours, causing frequent outages and the need for equally frequent replacements. Each time you replace that lamp, you incur additional costs. An LED boat light on the other hand will last in excess of 50,000 hours on average. That means that you would have to replace an incandescent lasting an average of 1,000 hours 50 times to equal the longevity of your LED lamp. If we say your incandescent bulb costs $1.00, that’s $50.00 over the course of 50,000 hours. With LED bulbs now available for as low as $24.00 for quality units, it is easy to see a net savings in maintenance and replacement costs alone. Add in the power and fuel saved as well, and it is clear that LEDs are actually more cost effective over the long term.

Two other very notable improvements LEDs offer over incandescent lamps are cooler operation and much greater durability. Most boaters are well aware of how warm it can get below decks in the summer. Now imagine placing several small heaters in that small cabin as well. Things can get rather warm quite quickly, obviously. Well, this in effect is what you are doing when you turn on those hot running halogen or incandescent cabin lights. This in turn causes air conditioning to run harder and more often, using more fuel and draining more power. LEDs on the other hand run cool enough to touch with your bare hand, even after hours of operation, reducing the heat added to the cabin, often the AC needs to run, and improving your overall comfort.

LEDs can also survive rough handling that would destroy a normal glass incandescent bulb. LEDs have no wire filament, no glass, no gases or mercury, and can withstand jarring, vibrations, and even impacts from dropping or accidental hits without any change in performance.

Overall, the reasons for switching your boats lighting system over to LEDs are numerous. You can run more of them, and for longer periods. They need less maintenance and cost less to operate over their lifetime. And last but certainly not least, they’ll allow you to spend less time worrying about maintaining your battery reserves and more time actually enjoying your boat. And that, friends, is why you should install LED lights onboard your boat.

How Do You Enlarge Your Penis Naturally In The Heat Of The Moment?

Imagine yourself on a date with the woman of your fantasy… pretty, young and voluptuous. You have worked hard setting up this date, waiting for the perfect timing, and now the moment you have been dreaming of has finally arrived.

Imagine further that you have succeeded in seducing the young woman, and she has agreed to spend the night with you… in bed! Now, you become apprehensive: what if your penis does not deliver as expected? What if your erection is not as hard as it used to be? What if the girl is left wanting? Of course you would not want such a letdown to happen! A question immediately comes to mind: how do I enlarge my penis naturally?

Sure, you have heard about medications to enhance performance, but you are afraid of the possible side effects. So how do you enlarge your penis naturally?

They say that the first step in solving a problem is recognizing it. How do you enlarge your penis naturally if you think that that is not your problem? Many men in fact would not admit it’s their problem. Recognizing the problem also mean understanding the problem. Declining libido and sexual desire are caused by many factors, ranging from natural to artificial. Causes can be as natural as mere aging, or as artificial as being psychological. Causes in between are mostly as a consequence of how we live our lives, or what we may call lifestyle causes. Vices like smoking and drinking, poor diet, and lack of exercise contribute considerably to poor sexual performance. Due to poor diet, smoking, and intake of alcohol, the blood vessels constrict the flow of blood in the body, particularly to the penis.

This question that many men are afraid to ask remains – how do you enlarge your penis naturally? An enhancement product, coupled with a healthy lifestyle is the answer. Healthy blood circulation is the key to a healthy sex life. Regular exercise and a balanced diet are important in keeping that healthy blood circulation. Exercise need not mean going to the gym; it could be as simple as using the stairs instead of the elevators, or walking instead of driving your car for very short distances.

For the longest period, people have used concoctions of plants and herbs to enhance virility, and health in general. Natural supplements are perceived to have less side-effects as the synthetic types, and rightly so. Herbal supplements work by allowing a freer flow of blood to the penis, increasing the volume of blood flow by enlarging the blood vessels. The penis size is likewise enlarged.

4 Benefits Of Practicing Yoga Regularly

Yoga is one of those ancient practices that can help you achieve a positive outlook, calm your mind, help you overcome stress and experience inner peace and serenity. After all, yoga means the union of the body with the soul and your inner self-achieving a dialogue with the external world. While many would have you believed that its fundamental benefits are physical and try to show it off its spiritual excellence, I feel the fact remains that all our physical well-being is intrinsically linked to our inner happiness and true purpose of yoga is essentially igniting this happiness of the soul. Here are some of the reasons why yoga has benefited me personally:

Reduce Stress

Yoga goes a long way in mitigating the physical impact of stress on our body. By the very nature of self-restraint, it helps me lower the levels of stress-related hormone Cortisol, thereby, directly bringing down my blood pressure levels and also the rate of heart beat. As a result of this, other related symptoms like depression, hypertension, insomnia and anxiety also get taken care of. It also enhances the digestive function. This also directly impacts the immune system. After all, as the saying goes strong body houses a strong mind.

Reduces Pain

This is something I have only realized through the continuous practice. While the apparent link is not that obvious, inner calm and peace also go a long way in curing pain and body ache. Asanas and meditation together go a long way in even tackling chronic diseases like multiple sclerosis, arthritis, back pain and spinal cord related ailments. When the immune system gets a booster through the physical practice, it also helps the body tackle various germs a lot more effectively and efficiently.

Mental Balance

It is after all common knowledge that regular practice can lead to a more effective blood flow through the body. This also enhances the effective functioning of the cardiovascular system. As a result, the body’s effective functioning improves your overall mental balance. The mind gets a boost of improved oxygen supply and this no doubt helps an individual handle stress situation, anger and all other negative forces a lot more efficiently. It is, therefore, natural that you do not easily succumb to temper loss or take a rash decision. By nature, you become calmer and handle any issue with more maturity.

Flexibility

Yoga helps in improving flexibility and mobility of the body. By reducing the aches and various pain points, it also boosts us with greater strength and confidence to complete the yoga asanas to their complete fruition. Initially, I was never able to touch my toes but gradually with patience and practice my muscles started loosening up and I could feel my flexibility and stamina improving simultaneously.

Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that Yoga has helped calm me down and handle pressure a lot more effectively. I don’t get stressed so easily now and can handle tension more efficiently. Needless to mention, this has also helped me achieve better mental balance.

5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Ignore A Leaky Toilet

There are moments in a homeowner’s life when they panic, and none are more terrifying than a toilet leaking. The general homeowner is thrown into a whirlwind of confusion and uncertainty because they understand this mean serious business. There are a number of issues at play here, and one of these issues happens to be that most homeowners, especially first-timers, are not quite sure how to approach bathroom/plumbing repair.

It also stands to reason that when most people hear the word ‘leak’, they are convinced that there is nothing less than worst-case scenario rules in place. While it may not be such a dire situation, though, it is still important to know that when confronted with a leaky toilet, you need to take action.

Here are five reasons why taking care of that toilet leak is vital:

1. Saving Money – While money may be low on your list of priorities when it comes to a leaky toilet, it is important to keep in mind because wasting money can work in a few ways. Not only will you waste money with water leaking (higher utility bill), you also stand to have to spend a pretty penny when if the damage your leak causes is major.

2. Damage – Speaking of damage, most home experts agree that homeowners should think of a leaking toilet as a source of flood damage. In one instance, water damage can happen over time even with a small amount of water. Moreover, if the leak is based in damage to the porcelain of the toilet, it means that the porcelain has been compromised, leading to major failure at some point (and water everywhere).

3. Sewer Gas – One issue many people don’t think about is sewer gas in your bathroom. There may not be water present. However, you may notice the sewer smell, and this is a problem. We are inclined to think that unless water is present, it can’t be defined as a leak. Also, because it’s the bathroom, we assume that a smell is part of the territory.

4. Environmental Concerns – When it comes to environmental issues, it bears mentioning simply because of how much water is wasted by a leaky toilet. Some home experts estimate that a leaking toilet can waste nearly five gallons a minute. If the area when you live is under water restrictions due to drought conditions, you’re causing a major problem.

5. Resale Value – One last note on toilet leaks deals with the resale value of your home. Nothing deters a prospective home buyer than a leak of some kind. By addressing a leak quickly, you can save yourself a possible headache down the line.

Don’t let a toilet leaking ruin your day. By being vigilant and acting quickly, you can diffuse what could be a major repair issue with a relatively quick fix.

How To Be Sane In An Insane World

Are you happy? Are you happy every day? Do you wake up happy? Do you go to sleep happy? My answers to all four questions are: YES! I do not want to go to sleep at night because I am enjoying life so much that I just want to stay up and continue being happy. I've fallen asleep on the couch more nights than I care to admit, as I tried to stay awake. I realize I'm in the minority here and this is not how it is for most people. I started to think about how I live my life and came up with the following list of things that keep me "sane in an insane world".

Workout: I started working out in high school and will be doing it for the rest of my life. The gym is my second home. The endorphin high relieves stress and alters negative states of mind. Exercise tells your cells that they should grow instead of decay. If you do not make time for exercise, you must actually make time for illness.

Diet: How and what we eat affects our bodies (both inside and out), energy and mood. It's important to stick to a healthy diet most of the time and "cheat" only once in a while. I am currently within 3 pounds of my high school weight and plan to be in that range for the rest of my life.

Meditation: Once you experience the benefits of meditation, you will not be able to live without it. You will actually crave it. You become more intuitive and are able to remain calm in stressful situations. If I do not get a chance to meditate, I'm not as peaceful and grounded as I like to be.

Spiritual / religious foundation: Believing in a higher power gives us strength in both good times and bad. It grounds us when we have been coming from our ego and reminds us that we are spirits in a material world. My weekly Buddhist class always brings me back down to earth if I start to get to take myself too seriously.

Sleep: Most people need a minimum of 7 hours of sleep. Your body needs to renew itself at night. If you regularly have trouble sleeping, do the things on this list and you'll find that you'll be able to fall sleep easier.

A Passion: I love, love, love my weekly, Latin dance class. I would not miss it for the world. I'm in a childlike state the entire class – joking around and laughing. You have to have something to look forward to every week that makes your spirit sing. Find your passion.

Music: When you start to take life too seriously, you can change your mood instantly by listening to music that moves you. If you're feeling down, play something upbeat. I usually have relaxing music playing in the background at home – it instantly changes the whole vibe.

Reading: Just like your body, you need to feed your mind. You become more attractive when you are well read and can carry on an interesting, intelligent conversation. I am addicted to reading and as a result, can talk to anyone about almost anything.

Meaningful Conversations: I have a ton of friends but I'm lucky to have 3 great friends who I can talk to about anything and they listen actively and give me honest, intelligent feedback. We all need someone to talk to – it's a lot less expensive than therapy.

Pampering: Life is about balance. You need to take care of the body, mind and soul equally. When you feel stressed out, pamper yourself. Sometimes a luxurious bubble bath with music and candles is all you need.

Massage: This is usually viewed as a luxury, but I believe it is a necessity. The benefits of massage range from improved immune system to improved joint flexibility and everything in between. If you can not afford to do it on a regular basis, go to a massage school where the rates are much lower.

Love: Love is all around you. It can come from anywhere – a romantic partner, a parent, sibling, friend, neighbor, pet or nature. Be as open to giving it as you are to receiving it.
