The successful Senior Systems Engineering Manager will:
3 or more years managing or supervising a technical team
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline and 5 or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4 or more years with a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS
Must be able to participate in 24×7 on-call
3 or more years with technology such as KVM, VMWare, Kubernetes or Docker
Preferred Qualifications:
Scripting experience in one or more languages (Python, Perl, Java, Shell)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data so that trends can be recognized before they become a customer-impacting issue
Isilon and EMC storage technologies
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers, coworkers, and management
Supporting computer systems within a live production service environment
Experience with technologies such as ELK or ScaleIO
Network architectures including web servers, web caches, databases, storage area networks, clustered storage systems, routing, etc
Good problem-solving skills
Dish is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager at its Cheyenne, WY data center to work on creating next generation systems with tools such as Linux, SaltStack, Kubernetes and Docker. This position is a mix of 50% individual contributor work and 50% team building and mentoring.
Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
Manage a team of four to five Systems Engineers
Provide Tier 3 escalated application/systems support
Work closely with other departments to ensure problem resolution and minimize time to restore
Perform fault management and problem resolution in a highly complex, mission critical Data Center environment
Lead next generation technology proof of concept trials with both Open Source and Commercial software/hardware
Perform software and hardware upgrades to maintain the high performance requirements of the environment
Lead implementation of new systems into production systems
Ensure that data center documentation is kept up-to-date.
